RAWK the Inland Northwest RAWK the Inland Northwest is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation founded in March 2000 and located in Spokane, Washington. It is primarily a concert production and promotion organization, featuring very contemporary forms of hard music. RAWK conducts events featuring both local bands and touring bands. It sponsors an annual competition for local high school bands, the "RAWK Final Four." RAWK is a faith-based, independent and multi-denominational organization, and includes both avowedly Christian and also general market bands in its undertakings. It utilizes an inclusive model for building long-term relationships.. RAWK was named a partner organization in "Spokane's Promise" by the Chase Youth Commission in August 2004. Goals: RAWK wants to create safe and positive settings for young people, while still maintaining a fun and energetic climate. It wants to create opportunities for youth leadership and character development. RAWK desires to support and enhance the local music scene, and help young bands grow and mature. It desires to be a good witness for the universal and unconditional love of God for people, as embodied and exemplified by Jesus Christ. RAWK also desires to break false stereotypes of believers as being boring, judgmental, and unconcerned about unbelievers. Objectives: 1. Put on events that look and sound great. 2. Emphasize service to the local music scene, including the non-Christian elements, practicing hospitality. 3. Attempt to bring national and regional touring bands noted for music quality, positive lyrics, and personal integrity. 4. Provide support (financial, spiritual and emotional) to touring bands. 5. Give young local bands an opportunity to perform, improve, and be recognized by the community. 6. Look for opportunities to include and support other forms of art, especially that created by young people. 7. Pay particular attention to the needs of at-risk youth. 8. Be open to new ideas and opportunities for serving youth and for providing safe and interesting activities.
